Cabo Verde TACV
TACV (Transportes Aeros de cabo Verde) is the main major airlines of the ex Portugese island. It was founded in 1958 as a state company. It used a single De havilland "Rapid Dragon" and quickly acquired a paire of Wigeons Grumman. It only provided passenger service between the archipelago. We have to wait 1973 to see largest aircrafts HS748 joining the fleet. It permitted the airlines to open new routes on Dakar. The airlines grew up and new routes were oepend to Lisbon and Boston once TACV acquired jet aircrafts.
Between years 90s and 2000. A Boeing 757 and Boeing 737-300 joined teh fleet. The inter islands service was provided thanks a fleet of Embraer 120 Brasilia and ATR42s. The airline was privatized in 2006 and still strongly operates between its main base to Africa, Europe and U.S.A

Air ivoire is issued from SODETRAF and some of the parts were owned by the French Carrier U.T.A and the African Associated airline Air Afrique until 1976. It was founded in 1960 but really began to operate in 1964. Due to a sad economic situation, the life of the Ivoirian airlines was cahotic.
The airlines was refounded in 1999, thanks a partnership with Air France ( owner with 51% of All Africa Airways. The company was relaunched under a first name of Nouvelle Air Ivoire. It only started to oeprate on 2002 with a fleet of some medium capacity Airbus. Air Ivoire acquired its own Airbus A321 in 2002 it used on the route Abidjan to Paris. The airline many time leased other type of aircraft, as Fokker F100 or Boeing older 737s. It added 3 Boeing 737-500 to replace its older aircraft.
In 2011, Ivory Coast entered in serious politic crisis and all Air Ivoire operations fell to 50%. it contributed the airline to definitivly cease its operations the September 5th of that same year. Air Ivoire only provided services to Paris, Bordeaux and Marseille, in Europe. Other routes was operated to West Africa. When the airline ceased its operations, its fleet was equiped with 3 Boeing 737-500s and & Airbus A321.

Mauritania Airways is issued from a partnership between Mauritania and Tunisia. The airline was created in December 2007. It uses a fleet of 2 Boeing 737-700, an Airbus A320 and a regional aircraft ATR42. It operates on routes to Dakar, Bamako, Casablanca, Abidjan, Conakry, from its main base of Nouakchott Airport. Only one route was provided in Europe; Paris and other one in Canary islands (las Palmas). The airline is black listed in Europe.
AIR MAURITANIE
This airline was created in 1962 but began operations a year later. It was the major airlines of the country. Based at Nouakchott, it provided services with a limited fleet of DC3s. It acquired Fokker F27 in 1976. First jet aircraft joined the small fleet in 1985, allowing the airlines to provide flights to Dakar. In August 2006, Royal Air Maroc announced to take over 51% of Air Mauritanie's capital! It permitted the airlines to include in its fleet Boeing 727-200 and Boeing 737-500. This partnership was abandonned. The main airline of Mauritania ceased operation in January 2008.

Air Mauritius
(Photo: Marvin Leip - Source: http://www.planepictures.net/)
The country main airline was founded in June 14th 1967 by an ancient Second War spy converted on tourism business (Amédée Maingard). He found partnership with Air france and BOAC. The airline was set up between Mauritius Government and private Rogers & Co. The airlines started operations with a single Piper Navajo leased to Air Madagascar, providing scheduled services between Mauritius and Reunion island. Other route to Rodrigues island was opened in 1972 with the same aircraft. Air Mauritius acquired a B.A leased VC10 in 1973 and started to link Europe (London) to the island, via Nairobi. As the route was succesful. the airlines leased a Boeing 707 to British Airtour before to add a Boeing 747 for its international routes in 1977.
Early 80s, Air Mauritius renewed its fleet and acquired a Boeing 767-300 for his long distance routes and regional services was provided with fresh ATR42s. Later, Airbus A319s completed its regional fleet to...
(Photo: Mickael Payet - Source: http://www.planepictures.net/)
... provide services to Madagascar. Of course, Boeing 747SP was replaced by new generation Airbus as A330 and A340. Now, Air mauritius, still operates on scheduled flights throughout Africa ( South Africa, Madagascar, Comores, Kenya and Reunion) to Europe (Paris and London) but its network goes to Asia (China, India, Malaysia and Singapore) as far as Australia (Perth).
Many code shares are signed with Air France, emirates Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and South African Airways
actually its fleet is equiped with 6 Airbus A340s, 2 Airbus A330s, 2 Airbus A319s and 2 ATR72s. Air Mauritius firmly ordered 2 B787 "Dreamliner" and 2 new generation Airbus A350s to replace its older aircrafts. It's main base is Port Louis International Airport.
